Trinity is an orbital elevator that was constructed as an attempt to set aside differences among the three major global powers: the U.C.S., O.C.U. and D.H.Z. However, the period of peace didn't last, leaving the space elevator incomplete and derelict in a desert - most commonly known as "Babel".
During the events of Front Mission Evolved, it was used as the headquarters of the Sword of Damocles.
